This issue is near and dear to my heart because my grandmother has Alzheimer’s.  I think it is pretty incredible that in rare, genetic forms of the disease they can now connect changes in the brain that occur 10 to 20 years prior to the onset of the disease to Alzheimer’s itself.

What does this say about our so called quality of life?  Is it because we have the time to consider issues other than survival?  Is that why we are more depressed?  Or is it as simple as money doesn’t buy happiness?

Why it is even more necessary for those of us of mature age to be careful of the heat. Considering the temperatures nationally, this is a timely article.  (And aid for energy assistance has been slashed by both the Federal and State governments.  In Ohio, where I live, they use a portion of that for summer cooling assistance as well as winter heating aid.)

I have seen very little news coverage on the latest oil spill  to occur – this one is on the Yellowstone river in Montana.

Umm, what?!?! Just how long until we start seeing more ‘super weeds’ that withstand widely used pesticides?
